The major city in the county is Oxford, world-famous for its university which dates back to the 12th century and associated with the University boat race - which has been held annually between the teams of Oxford and Cambridge since 1856. Other towns include Banbury, Abingdon, Chipping Norton and Bicester.
Places to see range from the 18th century country estate at Blenheim Palace, the prehistoric hill carving of the White Horse at Uffington, the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the impressive Ashmolean Museum and the picturesque Henley-On-Thames - famous for its rowing regatta.
