Holiday Properties in Kent
The county of Kent is situated in the South-East of England and is one of the 'Home Counties'. It is also referred to as the 'Garden of England'Β owing to its vast number of hop gardens and orchards used in the production of beer and cider respectively. The county's close proximity to France means on a fine day you can see the French mainland from the port of Folkestone; this is also where the entrance to the Channel Tunnel is situated, transporting vehicles and people to and from Calais. Kent's coastline is also famous for the iconic White Cliffs of Dover.
Other major towns and cities in the county include the port of Felixstowe, the seaside town of Margate, the large towns of Ashford, Chatham, Rochester and Maidstone, and the cathedral city of Canterbury. Places to visit range from the historic cathedral at Canterbury, the wetlands of Romney Marsh, the picturesque gardens at Sissinghurst Castle, the castles at Hever and Leeds, and for keen shoppers, the vast malls of Bluewater Shopping Centre.
