Wagtail Corner was once the old shippen at Stonehayes Farm. In country dialect, a shippen is a cowshed, so this was where the cows came in from the fields to spend the winter. Now thereā€™s not a whiff of that though, no trace of its former life other than the very fabric of the building ā€“ the thick stone walls and some of the big old timbers supporting the roof, but thatā€™s nice, it all adds character. Wagtail Corner isĀ ideal for family holidays, for two couples, or for part of a bigger group renting a few of the cottages at Stonehayes Farm.

Once you step insideĀ a good feeling comes over you, like you know straightaway that youā€™re going to have a wonderful holiday. You see, itā€™s all so light and airy, so bright and fresh; a nice big open plan living space with a modern kitchen at one end and a comfy living area to the other. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for your holiday; thereā€™s a sturdy dining table, an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, wine cooler, dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer.

Put your feet up on the leather sofas of an evening, get the popcorn out and watch a movie; thereā€™s a Smart TV and a DVD player, and if youā€™re here in the autumn or winter and you fancy itā€™s a bit chilly you can light the wood-burner and savour that lovely warm glow. Thereā€™s a quirky feature, ā€˜the door to nowhereā€™; it did go somewhere once upon a time but it doesnā€™t now and is just there for the charm. A more useful door takes you to the downstairs loo!

Upstairs to the right you step up to Bedroom 1; have the sweetest dreams in the kingsizeĀ bed, fill the cupboards with your clothes, sing your heart out in the en suite shower room in the morning. Bedroom 2 sleeps 3 people in a superkingĀ and a single bed or in three singles, plus thereā€™s room for a cot. Between the two bedrooms thereā€™s a contemporary bathroom with a P bath and overhead shower.

What often happens is that bigger groups, or two or three families book two or three of our cottages together, and thatā€™s where Wagtail CornerĀ is really handy as it has the room for you to opt for a bigger dining table that seats 14 ā€“ that way you can all dine together!
