The House
Part of the joy of any holiday is arriving, and so it is with Avelaine. Go through the gates, along the private drive and let your holiday begin. Â
Step into an impressive hallway with a double sweeping staircase; off left is the kitchen, big and fully equipped for your stay, open plan to the orangery living room where bifold doors open onto a sunny patio.
Right of the hall is the games room with a pool table and table football; right opposite there’s an office (great for workations), and the dining room. A short staircase takes you down to the steam room and the spa hall, where the wow factor really kicks in; to one end is the hot tub, centre place is the pool, at the end of the room doors open wide to bring the sunshine in.
Back up the stairs, off a half-landing is the elegant drawing room, opening onto a huge roof terrace with views over the gardens to the river. Upstairs off a large part-galleried landing; to the left are Bedrooms 1-7. Bedrooms 4 and 5 share a bathroom, the rest have ensuite facilities. Bedrooms 1-3 have a balcony. On the top floor, Bedroom 8 has an ensuite bathroom and two dressing areas.
The Mediterranean style gardens are immense, with river views, pathways to wander and several seating areas for outdoor dining or coffee in the sunshine. There’s a BBQ island, and for when the weather’s not on your side, a cosy Scandinavian grill hut.
With its space and its luxury, and its coastal setting, Avelaine ticks all the right boxes for impressive corporate breaks, joyful celebrations and unforgettable family holidays. It’s a place to relax, a place to be happy.
Local Area
If you love luxury, Avelaine is the perfect place to stay for your group holidays in the UK. Understandably, you might not be able to tear yourselves away, but if you do, you’ll find heaps to see and do beyond the gates.
Stroll down to the River Hamble, around the harbour and the marina, explore the quiet village of Warsash, the independent shops and places to eat. Catch the pink ferry across the river to Hamble-le-Rice, walk the quaint cobbled streets and go crabbing at the quay.
Within a short drive there are attractions for all interests. Soak up the tranquillity of the River Hamble Country Park, the history of Portchester Castle and Titchfield Abbey. Take a family trip to Marwell Zoo, spend a day in the New Forest where you can visit Peppa Pig World and the attractions at Beaulieu. Have a tour of the historic house at Goodwood, or book an exciting motoring experience.
Have a day in the city at Southampton, learn all about the Titanic at SeaCity Museum, take in the upbeat vibe of Ocean Village Marina and the Southampton International Boat Show. At Portsmouth you can wander round the Historic Dockyard and see The Mary Rose and HMS Victory; get your retail fix at Gunwharf Quays, love the panoramic coastal views from the Spinnaker Tower.
Spend time by the sea at Lee-on-Solent or Hill Head Beach, travel back to the 17th century at Woodham Living History Village. You could even head across to the Isle of Wight for a day to visit Queen Victoria’s Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle and Ventnor Botanic Garden.
Head back to Avelaine for a BBQ feast, dream the night away, all happy and smiley. The memories you make will be irreplaceable.
