Go slowly down the long, long drive to Harcombes – just look at those views! Nothing but spectacular Devon countryside in every direction, nothing but peace and quiet, save the birdsong. Downstairs
Step inside the hall and to the left there’s a utility room, Bedroom 1 and a spiral staircase leading up to the first floor, or down to the lower ground floor. Right of the hall is a second living room where doors open to an enormous glass fronted balcony with outdoor furniture and views out over an unspoilt valley. Next door there’s a small kitchen – handy as it saves you going down to the main kitchen for a cup of tea. Carry on to Bedrooms 2-4, a loo with an original prison door, and a second spiral staircase.
Take the first stairs down to the lower ground floor where you’ll find the enormous open-plan living space. There’s a well-equipped kitchen, a long dining table and a wood-burner; step down to the lounge area, with plenty of sofas and chairs to sit comfy. To one end there’s a bar, to the other there’s a back kitchen with extra ovens and a commercial glasswasher. Doors open onto the terrace for bbqs and more of those views. Just off the dining area there’s a loo and access friendly Bedroom 10, where double doors allow direct entry from the garden.
Upstairs
The first stairs take you to Bedrooms 5-7, the second stairs lead to Bedrooms 8 and 9. What’s great is that all bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms or shower rooms, all bedrooms have wardrobes and there’s underfloor heating throughout all floors. See Floorplans/Rooms for more information.
Outside
At the back of the house there’s a private garden with a terrace and lawn. A few strides away is the play field and games room (shared), a path leads across the courtyard and round to the pool – exclusively yours for two 1.5 hour slots each day. You’re also free to explore the fields, woodlands on the 52 acre private estate, which has a dedicated County Wildlife Site rich in flora and fauna.
