Â
The interesting thing about ski holidays is all types of people love to take them!Â
Singles, couples, families...there really is something for everyone in Vaujany.Â
The Skiing Is Pretty Magical
Well, itâs the reason youâre considering going, right? And this alone should it be the reason you want to book a holiday in Vaujany
Itâs nearly that time of year again and I reckon youâre itching to back out on the mountain. Thereâs sure to be something that hits the spot, no matter what your level or fear-factor may be. Itâs also an extremely pretty ski area with picnic stops galore, so donât forget your camera!
It's not just us that think how amazing Vaujany, have a read of some articles written in the papers! Here
In the snow
The Off-Piste Is Unspoilt and Undiscovered
This is something totally different. As of yet, very few skiers have discovered Vaujanyâs amazing backcountry terrain.Â
Those of us that have experienced it know it is something truly special. Vaujany is very close to La Grave â Europeâs (and perhaps the worldâs) most famous off-piste ski area.Â
Yet often I meet La Grave guides skiing in Vaujany.Â
Why?Â
Because off-piste conditions are often better than on the notoriously fickle La Grave slopes.
Â
Â
You Wonât Get Bored
The entire Alpe dâHuez ski domain is on your doorstep, with nearly 250km of pistes, 84 lifts, the incredible Sarenne (the longest black run in Europe) and the famous Ski Everest Challenge.Â
Simply hop on the cable-car in the morning and find yourself smack in the middle of one of the most exciting ski areas in the Alps.Â
Even if you want some time away from the snow, there is plenty to keep everyone occupied or relaxed.  I promise itâs a brilliant area to explore â but thereâs only one way to find out if Iâm telling the truthâŚÂ
The Snow is Reliable
Another wonderful thing about this place (yes, it just gets better and better)Â is the snow.Â
Unlike other resorts, where booking a ski holiday in December is hit and miss and you may well end up with closed lifts and a limited number of icy pistes to ski on, there is guaranteed snow due to the Pic Blanc Glacier.Â
Plenty of snow cover means you wonât be held back from really challenging yourself if itâs an adrenaline-filled week that youâre after. Alternatively, if easy cruising down to lunch is more your style, youâll still be grateful for the plentiful snow.
The Weather Rarely Disappoints
This is one of the sunniest resorts in the French Alps (nicknamed âthe island in the sunâ) with more than 300 days of glorious blue skies a year.Â
Picture yourself basking in the sun on a deckchair at a mountain restaurant, or lapping up a bluebird day as you explore the mountain.Â
Not bad, eh?Â
Pleasant temperatures and a slight suntan makes the whole adventure that extra bit wonderfulâŚ
The Perfect Destination For Little Ones
Vaujany welcomes kids. Such a compact and friendly resort is ideal for small children (trust me, they will whinge if they have to walk too far in ski boots).Â
Everythingâs easy to get to â the ski school commute will be quick and painless. Itâs also extremely safe if youâve got teens who fancy a bit of independence in the evenings.Â
You can relax back at the chalet whilst they socialise and burn off any energy they have left after skiing.Â
Thereâs a lovely crèche for kids up to 11 years old. Itâs very flexible and the older ones can mix skiing with other daytime activities. Thereâs also a friendly local ski school with excellent instructors who speak good English, which will make the learning experience that little bit less scary.
When the skiing day is over, thereâs also plenty to keep kids occupied in the evenings â despite being a small village, Vaujany boasts facilities of a high standard (like those youâd expect in a bigger resort).Â
Think giant indoor swimming pool, complete with waterslides, an international sized, indoor  ice-skating rink, as well as a ten pin bowling complex
Or Maybe Itâs A Kid-Free Break That Youâre After
If itâs a child-free, relaxing holiday or a short break away from the kids that youâre seeking, look no further.Â
We all need a bit of adult time, now and again. Vaujanyâs laid-back nature means itâs just as good for couples and groups of adults.Â
Treat yourself to a relaxing evening after a hard-core day on the slopes â there are plenty of welcoming local bars and eateries (more about this later).
You deserve a break â let yourself unwind in one of our cosy chalets, enjoying a delicious 5 course meal and French wine.

NEWS Sept 2024:
Les Deux Alpes - Alpe d'Huez "WILL BE CONNECTED"
'On 8th September 2024, confirmation was published, that the ski domains of Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d'Huez "WILL BE CONNECTED".
Yes, the Osians region will now see a monster of a tourism giant emerge and comes as a thunderclap of excitement in the region. Once connected the new ski area will offer a staggering 475km of slopes, which includes multiple glaciers, peaks of 3300m and 3600m and some of the longest ski seasons in the Alps, from the end of November to the end of April.
The project to link the areas will now be included in the next Territorial Coherence Scheme (SCoT) of Oisans, as confirmed by the politicians concerned.
Guy Verney, elected president of the community of The Communes on July 16, and also the new mayor of Bourg d'Oisans, has announced his âstrong desire to completely take overâ the regional planning for the next 15 years. Along with Jean-Yves Noyrey, they have stated that the project to link the areas of Deux Alpes and Alpe d'Huez will be advanced.
Work now has to be completed to ensure it addresses all aspects including, "the previous project did not provide for summer operation". Mr. Verney confirms that he is "certain that this link will be a 4 seasons link".
With the 310km Les Sybelles ski domain, wishing to connect a cable car from the resort of St Sorlin d'Arves, into the Vaujany Valley once the Alpe d'Huez - Les Deux Alpes ski area is formed, this will create the worlds largest linked ski area of 800km. There is much more to come for this, the most exciting area in the Alps.'
