Set at the heart of a private estate in the Devon countryside, Ade Shindy is a humdinger for your large group holidays in the UK. 13 ensuite bedrooms sleep 26 guests over a ginormous main barn for 20 and a smaller one for 6. 2 further adults can be accommodated in a cosy annexe at an extra cost. You’ll have exclusive use slots of the heated outdoor pool (March-October), shared use of a games room and play field, and free access to the 52 acre grounds.

Downstairs

Main Barn: Enter at ground level and on the left is Bedroom 1 and a utility room; to the right is the second living room with doors opening onto a huge balcony. Next to the living room there’s a kitchen, a loo with an original prison door, and Bedrooms 2-4. On the lower ground floor there’s an open-plan living space of gargantuan proportions incorporating a well-equipped kitchen, a long dining table and lounge space with doors opening onto the terrace, a bar to one end, and a back kitchen with extra facilities to the other. Off the dining area there’s a loo and access friendly Bedroom 10.

Smaller Barn: Just across the courtyard, the smaller barn is all at ground floor level. Off the entrance hall are Bedrooms 11-13, straight ahead there’s a WC and an open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining table and comfy seating. French doors open to the garden where there’s a bbq and outdoor furniture.

Upstairs

Main Barn: By Bedroom 1 a spiral staircase leads up to Bedrooms 5-7, by the kitchen another leads to Bedrooms 8 and 9. All bedrooms have either an ensuite bathroom or shower room, and wardrobe space, and there is underfloor heating throughout. For more information, please see the Floor Plans.

Outside

Main Barn: The ground floor has an enormous balcony where you can all gather for coffee in the morning, or for drinks at sunset. There’s outdoor furniture where you can put your feet up and take in the breathtaking views over the valley. From the lower ground floor doors open to the terrace and private garden, perfect for summer barbecues and enjoying time together in the sunshine.

Smaller Barn: The smaller barn has French doors that open from the living space to the garden where there’s outdoor furniture and a BBQ. The gardens for both barns are private and not overlooked.

A few strides away is the play field and games room where you can raise a ping-pong or table football challenge. A path leads across the courtyard to the swimming pool, all yours for your designated slots. Explore the vast grounds on the estate; wander through the fields and woodlands, climb the hills, paddle in the stream, look out for wildlife.
