Holiday Properties in Bute

Bute is located in the south west of Scotland and includes the Cowal Peninsula and the Isle of Bute.  It is an excellent introduction to the South West Highlands. On the mainland you will find breathtaking mountains and glacial lochs, as well as forests such as the Argyll Forest Park. The region offers fantastic opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding, and also for anyone with an interest in wildlife. By contrast the coast provides beautiful sandy beaches and coves.

When it comes to eating and drinking, you can enjoy the outstanding seafood that is available, particularly the oysters from the shores of Loch Fyne, along with the whisky that is made in local distilleries. The Isle of Bute itself is 15 miles long and 4 miles wide, and can be reached by a traditional paddle steamer that regularly travels between the Isle of Bute, the Isle of Arran and the mainland.

Once on the Isle of Bute there is much to enjoy. A popular Jazz festival takes place in May, and golf and sailing are also enjoyed by visitors. The island's prehistoric standing stones, the ruined 800 year old Rothesay Castle and the Victorian gothic mansion, Mountstuart House, are famous attractions for those with a taste for Scotland's dramatic history.
