Newquay is a lively seaside town on the north Cornish coast. In recent decades it has become a top location for surfing in Britain, owing to the dramatic waves that roll in from the Atlantic Ocean. Fistral Beach is a major draw for the surfing community and is a regular host to international surfing championships, including the Relentless Boardmasters Festival (formally the Rip Curl Boardmasters Tournament). Newquay’s numerous beaches are spacious and sandy providing a great setting for fun and relaxation for all ages.

For those interested in history, the Newquay town trail offers an unusual and fascinating challenge, consisting of 14 slate discs 99 cm in diameter, sunk into the ground at various locations around the town. Each disc has a written conundrum carved into it, providing a brain teasing way to learn about the history of the town.

As an alternative to enjoying the beaches, The Trenance Leisure Gardens have much to offer, including tennis courts, a bowling green and a boating lake; although many enjoy the gardens simply for a stroll amongst the trees and heritage cottages, with views of the stone arches of the railway viaduct and the Gannell Estuary. The town also has a zoo, a swimming pool and a miniature golf course.
