Holiday Properties in Garve
The Ross and Cromarty region lies in the north-west of Scotland and encompasses some of the most beautiful scenery in the Highlands and Islands. This stunning landscape includes mountainous regions such as the Torridon Hills that take in the mountains of Beinn Eighe, Liathach, Beinn Alligin and Beinn Dearg, as well as unspoilt islands and beaches on its rugged Atlantic coast.
Ross and Cromarty is sparsely populated and relies on fishing, farming, whisky distilling and tourism for its income. It is an excellent destination for those who wish to find some tranquility away from the crowds. The Glenmorangie Whisky Distillery at Tain offers fascinating tours around the distillery and is a favourite with whisky connoisseurs. Dotted through Ross and Cromarty are many places of historical interest, among them are the Cathedral of Fortrose, the early Christian settlement of St Maelrubha in Applecross, numerous ancient Pictish stones and the chapel of St Duthus in Tain.
The Black Isles, the Isle of Lewis, the Crowling Islands, the Isle of Ewe and the Summer Isles are just some of the magical islands off the coast and a wide choice of boat trips offer an excellent way to explore them. Seals, porpoises, otters, puffins and dolphins are seen round these waters.
